Raise the Curtain
When the Greenport Auditorium opened in 1894, it was designed as a community center bringing theatre, musical performances, education, and community programming to locals and visitors alike. However, the 1938 hurricane drew the curtain on this rich programming.

Today, 86 years later, we want to bring back the show, the actors and musicians, and most of all, the community to enjoy what the Auditorium was built for.

The vision is simple
Tomorrow’s Auditorium will open its doors to provide kids with after-school programming just as much as it will bring class-act theatre shows and musicians to town. It will give businesses a place to meet and have conferences. It will stimulate the local economy by helping local restaurants, hotels, and small businesses. It will make Greenport even better than it already is.
We have work to do
While the Victorian-style building has survived natural disasters and two world wars, it still stands proudly on Main Street. It will need a thorough restoration to meet modern standards and new plans.
We already have the support of NYState, Suffolk County, Preservation Long Island, and many Greenport and North Fork locals, and we are actively speaking to benefactors. Meanwhile, we are going through planning stages with Greenport Village to get their support, too.
